Mount Sinai has a history of union busting at Mount Sinai South Nassau. After nurses voted to form a union in 2023, Mount Sinai unlawfully fired a vocal union leader and has been pushing back on nurses’ contract proposals every step of the way. Hospital executives have also hidden information about safe staffing, surveilled members, destroyed union literature, unilaterally changed nurses’ schedules, and then retaliated against them for speaking out against potentially unlawful changes.  NYSNA filed several Unfair Labor Practice charges against Mount Sinai for retaliation.

Nurses at Mount Sinai South Nassau always put quality care for Long Island patients first. That’s why they’re working toward a fair union contract that guarantees there are always enough experienced nurses at the bedside.
