The Long Island Federation of Labor Retiree Council believes that the energy and dedication of thousands of union members must not be lost in retirement. They are committed to the goal of having every Federation affiliate represented on the council to assist in establishing active retiree associations in local unions.

The Long Island Federation of Labor Retiree Council is there to help our active members by picketing, attending demonstrations and rallies and by supporting our political program. Retiree issues concerning health care and pension benefits are lobbied in Albany and Washington, D.C. as well as in the County Legislatures.  Another goal of the Long Island Federation of Labor Retiree Council is to assist in establishing one strong, politically active retiree association. Another goal is to help open up meaningful communication between active and retired workers.  The Retiree Council believes that in working with active members today, you can help prepare them to become the active retirees of tomorrow.

As a work in progress, the Long Island Federation of Labor Retiree Council is committed to supporting the work of our local unions.  So retirees, come join the Retiree Council and help us build the Long Island Labor Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO.
